gold recovery from pcb?

i have a few tons of ram, cpus and graphics cards. I want to extract the precious metals from this scrap. I havent decided what method to use yet. However, i *think* the best thing to do would be to grind up everything into one big powder/fine grain mix, and process that. Alternatively i could remove the gold fingers and just process them - but i would be losing the rest of whats on the board. Having got a lot of scrap, i would have thought id be wasting a lot of precious metal.

The next thing is, i might decide to use electricity to remove the metals.....will that still be an option if i grind it all up to a powder? I cant see why, but im still a bit new to this. My thoughts are that grinding the scrap up and pouring it in water would help seperate the stuff that floats and the stuff that doesnt! But then that assumes a bit of gold isnt stuck to a bigger bit of floaty stuff......

basically, i am not going to sell this stuff. I am going to get the gold out myself. I am learning and reading about the chemicals etc, but i dont have any questions about chemistry as such....just really wondering how to go about processing this lot!!! That why im thinking grinding it all up first

My husband and I are trying to get out of debt, paying off credit cards, student loans, etc. We have made quite a dent in the past two years considering we have a six year old, four year old, and one year old. We have a decent amount of scrap gold and silver we would like to sell to pay off debt or invest in my husbands business (he needs cash for a buying trip as we sell items online). We have a friend that does this and will give us a fair price for it. Do we hold onto it and hope that the prices continue to climb, or go ahead and sell it and pay towards our debt or invest in the business now? When do you think it will reach it's peak price?

I have a substantial amount of scrap gold and want to get as close to market value for it as possible. I have decided I want to sell it in an auction setting.

There are many small, and broken scraps in my collection. I split the larger scraps, stamped with the carat, by carat. I plan on selling the gold in large lots, by weight, separated this way.

I am curious if there is anything I can do to instill confidence in bidders that my auction is legitimate. I am also interested in protecting myself from a false claims about the weight, quality or value of the gold after the auction. Is the any outside source or otherwise that I can employ to prove to a buyer that my auction is legitimate?

I was wondering how gold bars are made from scrap gold. I understand that the gold is melted and poured into a mold, but how are the other metals besides gold seperated so that the resulting bar is pure? Or do the companies just melt everything and sell a bar of the corresponding karat (ex. 14/18/24kt bars)? Thanks

My fiancee and I are selling some scrap gold, which has sparked my interest in gold as an investment. I was wondering if it would make sense to just get our scrap gold melted into a bar, and then purchasing additional bars as investments. I am 24 now and could probably buy .5 oz a month at current value. Would this be a smart investment for the future? I like the idea of having a physical investment (not to meantion the cool factor of having a safe full of gold bars). Is now a good time to be investing in gold? Don't, it's a complete rip-off. My sister had a bunch of scrap 24k gold and I weighed it for her. It came out to over a half ounce, so she bagged it up and sent it on its' way! She got a check for $100! I called the envelope-fairies for her and told them to send the gold back and they made a counter-offer of $300. Why didn't they pay out the $300 to start with? Hmmmmm. Eventually I just had them send the gold back to her because gold is going for over $1000/ounce on the market and their best offer was more than $400/ounce lower.
Beware when you sent them your stuff.
